Dr. Bentele grew up in Macon, Missouri and was a National Merit Scholar at the University of Missouri – Columbia (MIZZOU) majoring in Biology. In 1986, Dr. Bentele received his DDS from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry.
He then graduated from an Air Force General Practice Residency in Omaha, Nebraska gaining additional expertise in all dental specialty areas but particularly in oral surgery, anesthesia and periodontics. After practicing a full spectrum of general dentistry in the Air Force for 10 years he received his Certificate in Orthodontics and Master of Science at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry (Go Bucks!).
Dr. Bentele then practiced as an orthodontist at RAF Lakenheath in England where he was the head of a 3-orthodontist practice and a member of cleft palate and craniofacial deformities teams.
Dr. Bentele then became the Chief of Orthodontics at the US Air Force Academy where he was a member of a dental implant team, the craniofacial deformities board and a faculty member for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program.
His orthodontic philosophies are to approach patients from an outside-in approach to produce the best facial esthetic outcomes, protect the health of the mouth, and finally provide the best bite and smile that are reasonably achievable within the limits of what each unique patient presents. He believes in limiting tooth extractions by managing the erupting teeth but well thought out treatment plans may still require extractions to meet our goals. Early evaluation of children around age 7 is appreciated but early treatment should be limited in scope to what we can better accomplish now rather than later.
Dr. Bentele’s office is conveniently located between Academy Blvd and Union at 2575 Montebello Dr W, Suite 101. The office is in the 1st floor of the red brick Vista Grande Dental Building just south of Texas Land and Cattle Restaurant and Colorado Ski and Golf.
