“To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
My Story
Hi, I'm Dr. Sheila Soroushian, and I'm so glad you're here. My path to becoming an orthodontist started with my own smile. Originally from Orange County, California, I was a National Merit and President’s Scholar at California State University, Long Beach, where I earned my degree in Biochemistry. I went on to dental school at Tufts University in Boston and completed my orthodontic residency at Howard University in Washington, DC. During my residency, I had the privilege of publishing research in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, which helped deepen my commitment to evidence-based care.

My journey to Colorado Springs was a bit of a happy accident, but I quickly fell in love with the community and never looked back. I joined Inner-Smiles Orthodontics as an associate in 2022 and took the helm in 2025 from my mentor and friend, Dr. Mark Bentele. It's an honor to carry forward the legacy of a practice that has been serving Colorado Springs since 1946.
My philosophy of care is built around three things:
-
Art – Smiles are not one-size-fits-all. Every treatment is customized to fit your needs, your facial structure, and your personality.
-
Experience – I’ve been practicing dentistry and orthodontics for over a decade, and I draw daily on that experience and the mentorship I’ve received.
-
Science – I rely on evidence-based care to make sure you’re receiving the best, most current treatment possible.
I’ve continued our practice’s legacy of excellence in orthognathic surgery, working alongside the Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery team at Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson to treat patients with significant skeletal deformities. Together with Dr. Bentele, I serve as one of the orthodontists on the Children’s Hospital Colorado Cleft Lip & Palate Team and as clinical faculty at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Otolaryngology.
The Difference

At Inner-Smiles, you’ll see the same orthodontist—me—at every visit. I value consistency, personal attention, and really getting to know my patients and their families. That personal touch sets us apart in a world that can sometimes feel rushed or impersonal.
When I’m not in the office, I love spending time outdoors—hiking, skiing, and climbing (both rock and ice). I enjoy reading, cooking, and sharing my Persian heritage through food. One of my most memorable Colorado experiences has been climbing with the AdAmAn Club to ring in the New Year from the summit of Pikes Peak. I live in Green Mountain Falls with my partner Brian and our son Arman.
Serving You
My youngest patient was 5 years old, and my oldest patient was 86 (but don’t let that age stop you!), and I have worked with every age and stage of life in between. I myself have been an orthodontic patient many times (as a teen and an adult), and this experience gives me a unique perspective as to how treatment goals differ between kids, teens, adults, and older adults.
